Tank Ties, LLC began in late 2017 and officially started in early 2018. Heath, with engineering and business degrees from Oklahoma State University and over 20 years in high tech and renewables industries, wanted to use his skills in engineering, manufacturing, operations, marketing, and sales to start his own company.

Heath struggled with safely securing heavy propane tanks in his pickup truck for refills or exchanges. Bungee cords were often the wrong size or didn't hold the tank securely. Realizing others might have the same problem, he designed a strap solution. He bought a heavy-duty sewing machine, nylon straps, buckles, and hooks, and after two months and many attempts, developed a design that fit most vehicles.

After research, choosing the name Tank Ties, securing the website, and starting patent and trademark processes, Heath formed Tank Ties, LLC in Round Rock, Texas.
